Authentic Heurigen Village very near Vienna - A local recommendation

Hey folks, I found a “secret to tourists” village yesterday about 40 minutes by direct train from my house in Vienna. I can actually get to this village a lot faster than I can get to the typical heurigen sights in Vienna proper. In this village you’ll find a charming Main Street with Renaissance buildings painted in pastel colors and hidden courtyards offering great food and wine. I don’t want to give details here, but if you’re interested to know more, then send me a message.

I ‘ve sent a PM. My husband and I are going to be in Vienna and would love to visit.

I think I’ve caught up on replies! Sorry for the delay. I’ve been in the mountains at my favorite Alpine event - Almabtrieb.

A side question re: heurigen: are there any that are have primarily a la carte menu offerings? We’re not buffet people because we just don’t eat that much. Any idea how much the buffets are? I’ve read several menus with small a la carte offerings, with varying prices, but I haven’t found the cost for the buffets.
Thanks!

Think of it more like tapas where you can point and pay for each item. I haven’t encountered a buffet heuringen in my outings.

It’s not an All You Can Eat buffet with one price - Austrians would think that was tacky. I’ve actually in my 18 years here never encountered an Austrian All You Can Eat buffet. That’s not what this is. The food is displayed in a glass case. Typically hot food items made to order, like schnitzel, are also available. You go up to the glass case and tell the server what you want. Each item has a different price. As menu items offered change daily, you won’t normally find a menu online. You will be handed a tray with the items you selected. You order your drinks from the table. I think you’ll be surprised to see that Austrians also eat smaller meals, especially at dinner.
