My wife and I are arriving in Vienna on Sept 9th - 12th and then are going to Salzburg from 13 - 15th. We then have 16th and 17th
to get to Torino Italy to meet friends. Any suggestions as to medium priced hotels > $300 and the best way of travel throughout
the trip. I am 75 and she is a much younger 73. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Vienna to Salzburg: 2 options, either Westbahn or OeBB. I would recommend Westbahn as you can buy the tickets on board at no additional cost. Trains runs every hour from Westbahnhof to Salzburg and the journey takes about 2.5 hours. Tickets are 23.90 Euro per person. With OeBB (national Austrian rail carrier), you can buy the tickets in advance to Salzburg from their website, www.oebb.at, for a specific train. This will cost you 19 Euro. Buying your oebb tickets at the station, however, will be at least double.
Salzburg to Torino is a long way by train. I would recommend taking one day to travel by train to Munich and flying from Munich to Milan, then training to Torino.
For hotels, have you used websites such as booking.com? That is what I always do with great success. In Vienna, you want to stay in the First District (postal code 1010) and in Salzburg, I would recommend the Old Town and nowhere near the train station.
