Traveling from Vienna to Hallstatt to Hall of Tirol. Will the route include toll roads? And if so, besides having the vignette sticker will there be toll booths? If so, do they require exact change, have toll collectors or take charge cards?
Thank you.
There are no tolls or toll booths on Austrian highways. All you need is the vignette.
Thank you so much. Put my mind at ease should we decide to take an "A" road.
Hi Mark,
You shouldn't have any tolls. There are a few scenic roads and tunnels with tolls, but not on the highways, like here in NJ. You won't encounter anything like the GSP. LOL. BTW, we love Hall in Tirol.
They must have removed the tunnel tolls on the main east west autobahn between Innsbruck and the Swiss border through the Tirol then.
I've done that route several times and always had to pay extra for the long tunnels. It will be good to put some money back in my pocket. That's good.
Hey Nigel,
Not sure about that area. According to the OP, Mark, he's only going as far as west as Innsbruck/Hall in Tirol. I gave my advice based on that fact. For the record, in Austria, we've never been further west than Oetz.
Paul
You trip is possible without tolls but be aware there are tunnel tolls in Austria.

Oh, there goes my pocket money again!!!
Note that many of those tunnel tolls each cost more than a short term Vignette.
