Vienna to Hallstatt to Innsbruck to Zurich a good idea?

Hello all,

I need to make my way from Vienna to Zurich and was wondering if Vienna to Hallstatt to Innsbruck to Zurich was a good idea. I will be traveling in mid December so I am a little concerned that I will not have anything to do in Hallstatt. If Hallstatt would not be a good stop I will just cut it out and then head straight to Innsbruck.

If anyone has any expertise to offer and recommendations on what to do in Hallstatt or Innsbruck that would be helpful. I will already be seeing Munich, Salzburg, and the castles nearby just an FYI.

we stayed in hallstatt for a few days, which was great. we did the salt mine tour on a rainy day. lots of day tourists.
it definitely is a very nice place to visit. but it is very small, if the weather is not good, you wont see much of its splendour. it is a little out the way, so if you are trying to decide and its too inconvenient I would look at alternatives. there are other interesting 'alpine/lake' areas to see, in the general area that might be easier? Depends on how much time you have?

we enjoyed the berchtesgaden/salzburg area. ( we had a car) and are going back next May/June.
we also spent time in Innsbruck,( stayed at Hall in Tirol) it was a hot day looking around the town of Innsbruck and while I had always wanted to visit I didn't come away with the 'wow' factor. on our next trip we might see more of the area around innsbruck to make a more informed decision.
