Austria, Naturhotel and itinerary help, Prague, Vienna, or Switzerland

Hello! First time forum poster here!

My husband and I are planning a trip to Austria in either April/May or August/September of 2024. We are looking to stay at Naturhotel Forsthofgut for a portion of our trip. This is located in Leogang. Ideally, we love hiking and adventure and are looking for recommendations of where else to visit in the area. We plan to be gone seven nights total (plus about 1.5 travel days). We are looking to see where you think we should fly into and out of...Should we do Vienna and Prague, or somewhere in Switzerland and then Austria? Any feedback and help would be great! We love to be outdoors, get a challenging hike or two in, adventurous city experiences, and also a relaxing time at Naturhotel is certain. We are hoping to end our trip at the Naturhotel, so going somewhere beforehand would be ideal and ending there, or it being mid trip. Also, drive or train? We will be arriving from the USA and then trying to figure out transportation as well as what cities we should see.

Would love to know if anyone has been here, what you would or wouldn't miss and things we should do along the way!

I considered staying in Leogang when I planned my last Austria trip. However, I chose to stay elsewhere, because many hotels were closed during Covid. It's a lovely area, without a lot of non-European tourists.

I do not recommend adding Switzerland/Prague/Vienna, because the drive would be too long. If you love dogs and enjoy mountain views, a visit to this place (with a car) is a must:

Leogang is not that far from Salzburg, which is a nice city. It's very touristy and crowded during high season, however.

7 nights total. I'm rereading your post. Drivng from Vienna to Leogang depending on route and stops is @ 6 hours. With return that's your travel days. Explore Vienna (before or after). Stop somewhere along the way to Leogang like super touristy Hallstatt, or other. Check out Kitzbühel, Zell am See, Kitzsteinhorn etc. Return to Vienna. Depending on how you structure your trip there are other Austrian or Bavarian options. But you do want to relax some? Including either Prague or Switzerland is a stretch. I hope I'm getting it right this time.
