Austria.info states "FFP 2 masks" only acceptable mask on public transport/airports. Leaving in a month-do I need to purchase beforehand or will my KN95 be accepted throughout Europe??

Your KN95 will be fine. That's the equivalent of the FFP2. And if you need to buy more, they are for sale in every Apotheke or drug store.

What Kayla said. Currently, in Austria you are required to wear an FFP2 (N95 is the same thing) mask on public transportation, in grocery stores, pharmacies and hospitals only. You can buy FFP2 masks at many, many shops here.

We just returned from Austria.
Yes, you can buy masks there, although we ordered from Amazon and took them with us.
Some of the castles and museums would not let people in the door without the right type of mask. Just FYI
