Austria for Christmas

We are spending Christmas in salzburg! Want any suggestions of places for a Christmas dinner? Or how to make the two days special with teens?

A few years ago we spent Christmas in Salzburg. :) By that point in our vacation we were getting burned out on all kinds of Snitzel...so we ended up having Italian for Christmas dinner. Since Italy is so close to Austria...and Italian food is so easy to find...plus it is "Christmas Red"...it was our justification for eating Italian for Christmas. Pizza Margarita is everywhere. I can't give you any restaurant names...as not too many places were actually open on Christmas Day...people were with their families. It was an adventure to find some place even open. Hope this helps a bit! Have a Blast!!

It is worth noting that Austrians eat their big holiday meal on Christmas Eve, not Christmas Day. The following link is a list provided by the Salzburg tourist office of establishments serving food on Christmas Eve (highly recommended to make reservations):

Restaurants will tend to be open more normally on Christmas Day, but if there is a particular place you want to eat it would also probably be a good idea to reserve.

Things will be quiet on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day (Dec. 26), a time for family.
