We are a family of 4 -with 2 kids-8/9 years old traveling for 2.5 weeks. Itinerary so far
Paris 24-29 dec
Austria - Vienna & skiing in a kinder resort till 2jan
Florence - jan 3-5
Milan 6-7
So after we zeroed down on Austria we have 2 questions - recommendations for good skiing resorts with kids - something well connected to Vienna , a decent ski resort with kids activities ( have seen tons on Austria.info ).I'm trying to figure out in terms of connections n facilities kinder resort kinds, night floodlights ,kids fun activities in snow n indoors.
N second problem is how good are for second class trains for sleeping overnight.trying to book one from Vienna t Florence.Couldnt do it on euro rail.Called them also.The overnight connection would be good. I searched on italyrail but there seems no connection between these two cities on that site or name is differ t for Vienna.

Try oebb.at (Austrian railroad) from WIEN to FIRENZE. Then check for sleeping arrangements (compartments or couchettes.
Make sure you know which station in Vienna (Wien) your train will use for departure.

I tried this website still no connection.Its also recommended by rome2rio -wein meidling to florence but wein meidling doesnt pop up on the website.

The ticket is for sale on the OEBB web site. It works with the city names in English or in their native spellings. Ticket for 4 people in a 4-bed couchette is currently available for 238 euros total on Jan. 2 at 19:30.

I don't understand your plan. Vienna is hours (4-5) away from skiing. Vienna is not in the mountains. You do not want to backtrack to Vienna to get to Florence. Plan to ski around Innsbruck or Salzburg and proceed to Florence from there. Never use Rail Europe, Eurorail, etc. These companies are travel agencies selling tickets at 3-4x the fare and also give bad info. Use www.oebb.at always for travel originating in Austria.
