Ending a RS Eastern Europe tour in late September at Bled. Have week after; Flying home from Vienna. Considering train to Vienna for few days. Is sidetrip to Salzburg a possibility?? Other suggestions?? Any B&B or AirBnB lodging tips in Vienna?

Salzburg is too far from Vienna as a day trip, taking 2,5 hours one way. Have first a few days in Salzburg and then go on to Vienna. Bled has a direct rail connection to Salzburg. Beautiful trip, especially after Villach, on the Austrian side of the border.
In the unlikely case you can't fill your days in Vienna, you can have a day trip to the impressive monastery of Melk. Around 1 hour away with very frequent trains. You can make it into a pleasant whole day with taking the early afternoon river cruise from Melk to Krems, from where you can take the train back to Vienna.
