I am travelling from Helsinki to Vienna and arriving at 11.10pm on Saturday, 26th September. I wish to travel by train to Salzburg from the west bahnof train station. I would like to know if the underground metro is operational at 1.00am. If not, when does the first underground train leave Vienna airport.

The U-bahn doesn't go to the Vienna Airport.
The last commuter train (S7) leaving the airport for Vienna is at 00:17. You get off the S7 at Landstrasse/Wien Mitte and change to the U3 which takes you to the Westbahnhof.
If you don't make this train, you stay at the airport until 5:00 when things start running again, or you take a taxi.
