Areas to stay in Vienna close to transit

Hello all,
A quick question to all. After a trade show in Germany I'm going to do quick whirlwind tour of Vienna and Paris. Budget is very much a concern, and I plan to go the AirBNB route. The only problem is I can't really get the feeling for any of the neighbourhoods since there's no Google street view for Vienna available. I'm going to be there for 3 or 4 nights in the first week of June.

There are two must-haves for me: (1) I walk with a cane and have trouble with distances. Walking through the museums and attractions will take almost all of my energy, so that 10-minute walk to and from the metro or tram may be nothing to someone younger or in better physical condition, but I need something closer. Now with that said, (2), I'd like to find an area close to food markets, restaurants, cafés, etc. I'm an evening/night-time person and like to stay out late taking in a city at night.

Ideally I'd like to stay in the First District, but the costs are just a little too high for me. I need to keep the budget down to about $75 USD/night or even less if possible. That means outside the First...but where?

As public transport is available everywhere, it is not that important to stay in the very center (i.e. first borough). Best would be to look for an accommodation in the so called inner boroughs (from 2nd to 9th).

Get acquainted with the official online map of the City of Vienna: https://www.wien.gv.at/stadtplan/en/

It is far superior to Google Maps, except that it does not list private enterprises (e.g. restaurants). On the left you can put check marks to get a vast amount of data superimposed. For you public transport would be the first choice, so you can see where the next stop of a tram (trolley), metro (U-Bahn), or a bus is.

In the upper left corner of the map you can switch to a measurement tool which allows you calculate the distance from your accommodation to the next point of your interest, e.g. public transport station/stop, etc.

The aerial pictures had been taken with a special camera mounted in a low-flying airplane, thus they are better than satellite images.

The official online map of Vienna is also available as an app for smart phones and tablets, as well as apps for calculating the best public transport routes for going from A to B, an app which shows public transport stops in the vicinty of your current position, giving the distance and departure times.

Vienna is a very safe city, so you can spend your evenings in whatever lively area, and go home by public transport without any problems. Public transport runs until 15 to 30 minutes past midnight. After that there are special night busses, but you have to inform you about their schedule and routes (different on workdays and weekends).

We stayed in an apartment on Radetzkyplatz. Two tram lines come through there (0 and 1) and there are several good restaurants, cafes and a grocery store within a very small area.

We have stayed several times in the Favoriten area, about 3-4 stops out from Stevensplatz. Actual people live there, so grocery stores as well as restaurants. About 2 level blocks from Metro line and trams. On HomeAway/ VRBO. Some people are freaked out by multi-ethnic population, but for us it is "home" in Vienna.
