The Marillenfest (Apricot Festival) will take place this weekend in Spitz, a lovely village in the Wachau. The festival runs from Friday to Sunday, with everything centered around the apricot (of course). Highlights include the Sunday parade with Queen "Aprikosia" and King "Marillus," escorted by loads of locals in traditional dress (very interesting headdresses) and the automated apricot dumpling machine (Wizard of Oz-esque). If you arrive early, take the short hike up to the top of Tausendeimerberg for some of the best views of the Wachau Valley. I'll be there on Sunday, so drop me a message if you'll be there too!
