Has anybody been to the special exhibit called "Arcimboldo / Bassano / Bruegel" at the Kunsthistoriches Museum? I'm wondering if we need to buy our tickets in advance. Thanks!
There is no need to buy tickets in advance.
+1 for not needing to buy tickets in advance.
Which Kunsthistoriches Museum? Every major city has one.
Well, it is the Kunsthistoriches Museum in Vienna as that is where the exhibit mentioned is currently taking place.
For the edification of others and to satisfy the poster above, I would share that Kunst means Art and Historiches means Historical. So Kunsthistoriches means Art History, essentially.
Hello again, In case anybody else is wondering, we really enjoyed this exhibit at the Kunsthistoriches Museum in Vienna. It includes some of the famous paintings listed in Rick's tour, plus pieces borrowed from other museums (such as a Mercator globe).
We purchased our general admission online, then bought the extra ticket at a stand outside of the exhibit.
The special exhibit ends June 29.
Thanks for reporting back! I'm bummed I will miss it - we won't be going to Vienna for a few more weeks.
Actually, looking at the website, they are selling timed entry tickets for the special exhibit. So if you are on a schedule, it may pay to purchase in advance.
I was there in December and purchased a ticket for the Rembrandt-Hoogstraten exhibit [excellent, BTW] - there was a short line outside at the ticket booth, and I walked right in. A major disappointment was that I really wanted to have a snack in the spectacular cafe inside the museum, but the line for it was too long for me to deal with.
