We have booked a weeks holiday end of June and are looking for an appartment close to main attractions with good transport links.
Would appreciate it if anyone has recommendations as this will be our first visit.

We used these fabulous apartments: http://www.pension-sacher.at/en. You might find them booked, however, since your travel is so close at hand.

If you can't find anything close in, you might check out Pension Vitis. I've looked at it for a friend; talked with the owner, Karl Gerstl. Their apartments have kitchens and bathrooms. They are located farther out, near the Westbahnhof, but he said they are close to public transportation and it doesn't take long to get downtown. I saw only "excellent" and "very good" reviews on Tripadvisor. Their website has an English version.

When I went in the fall of 2013, I stayed at one of the City Centre Apartments hosted by Cecilia Prinz & her husband. I found them on Flipkey (Tripadvisor) but I think they are also listed on Expedia, etc. I had a studio apartment that was 4 blocks from the Opera House & 1 block from the Naschmarkt. I believe they have other listings also but I'm not sure if they are all in the same building.
Cecilia was very good to deal with by email and her husband met me at the apartment when I got in at midnight (I believe they live in the same building). The unit I had wasn't fancy, the small couch was fairly old and the furniture is mainly Ikea special. However, it was very clean and I was super happy with the location. The pictures on Flipkey are true to what the unit looked like when I was there.
