Apartment Rental - Lakes District

Hi,
I am looking to rent an apartment for 5 people (myself, wife, son and wife's parents). We plan on going to the lakes district near Salzburg late July/early August next year. We usually use Airbnb and Booking.com for our searches. So far we are not coming up with many options...even when searching for 4 adults only. We do not want to stay in a hotel...we prefer the extra space an apartment offers plus the extra amenities (kitchen etc.).

Any suggestions for accommodations or other sites to search?

Thanks for your help.

What search terms are you using? Salzkammergut, or the names of individual villages, should bring up results. You might need to use the word Ferienwohnung, or "dependence". Some will take bookings for a full week only, often Saturday to Saturday

Using the link under St. Wolfgang in this article, I came up with 18 apartments that would sleep 4 adults and a child ( or 5 adults) for a random week next summer. Most appear to be listed with booking.com and other sites.

Some are within hotels or "Aparthotels". For example, one called "Ferienwohnung Hotel im Weissen Rössl---Dependence" on booking.com. Here is their own website ( in English):

As Lola suggests. My first resort is always a local travel board. Here are a couple, also look at the tourist websites for other lakes. Note, on some websites you receive more information when using German as opposed to English.

St Gilgen is a good central spot for the other lakes close by and the Berchtesgaden area of Germany. Consider day trips to Konigssee/Mt. Jenner and Chiemsee also.
