On the train leaving Plzen. We still have a couple weeks to go and have ran out of a couple toiletries like toothpaste, finger nails clippers etc. and the wife has a blister on her heel from walking and needs a band aide. Anything like a Walmart or general store that would carry these things? We’re staying in the Olde Town area if that helps. Thanks!
don't need a huge Walmart. Don't even need to leave the station.
In common with many larger train stations in western and central Europe, the train station is a shopping hub.
Adjacent to the Salzburg Hbf (main station) is the Forum 1 Centre. There is a DM drugstore which will have most if not all of the items you listed, a Müller drugstore which will have even more - maybe so much more you might get distracted by the food and snacks, the childrens' costumes or the jewellery or craft materials or many other things, a EuroSpar supermarket (toothpaste = zahnpasta) ... and about another 35 shops and services. There's even a nail bar so nails can get even more care.
A dm drogerie would probably be your best option. They are all over Salzburg. The closest thing to a Walmart I can think of is the Interspar Hypermarkt in the new town across the street from the Stadt Bibliothek. But that would be less convenient.
Second the suggestion for DM. It's like CVS or Walgreens without the pharmacy counter.
That’s perfect! Thanks so much for the suggestions!
In a European city, when in doubt about shopping or dining, find a major train station. Works in Japan too.
InterSPAR??? Similar?
But everything you describe is available at Dm drogerie markt and they are all over town.
I guess if you want to be super technical about the capitalization, as some apparently are wont to be, the capitalization in the logo is INTERSPAR.
