Any word? Berchtesgaden Boarder Crossing to Salzburg

Part of my plan is to stay in Berchtesgaden and do a day trip or two into Salzburg. I know the trains are still closed from Salzburg to Freilassing. Is the boarder control by car still about 2 hours? Or is that just the main drag from Salzburg to Munich? I tried the Google, the Local, and DW and really haven't found anything. I want to put the finishing touches on our trip, and as much as I want to see Salzburg, I may have to put that on the list for another time.

Susan,

I was in Salzburg and area in September, and travel back and forth to Berchtesgaden was not a problem. Were you planning to travel by car? According to the owner of my hotel (who had travelled that route), he said there were no problems at the border. The easiest option is probably the DB Bus, which makes the trip in 49 minutes.

Hi Ken,

Thank you so much for the info! This helps a lot!! Yes the plan was by car after the train closed, but it is really helpful to know about the bus.

As of Sunday, Nov 8, the Bahn website shows the buses from Salzburg Hbf to Berchtesgaden Hbf running normally. No mention is made of border crossing control.
