antiques?

Hi-
any suggestions for where to shop for antiques in Vienna?

Look for signs that say "Flohmarkt". Directly translates as "Flea Market" and pretty much implies the same thing.

I like to at least check out what's for sale at the Dorotheum Auction House, even if it's out of my price range. The same street has other antique shops, too.

Dorotheum sells in auctions the higher price items, but lower prices are sold directly. You can often find old rings and small jewelry in classical Viennese styles for a few hundred euros.

I planned my trip to Vienna last August so I could go to the Flohmarkt on Saturday, at the end of the permanent Naschmarkt area--I love all old things and it felt like any other outdoor antique and collectable show in the US, though the prices seemed a bit higher perhaps due to the tourist traffic. Lots of interesting stuff to poke through, interspersed with some junk but I was in hog heaven all together and found some vintage buttons for a sweater I was knitting, a small framed picture and a small 1950s Steiff for my collection. Spent about 60 euro total and had a great lunch as well.
