Looking for recommendations for lodging in late April next year.
skiing or hiking?
(I have one up my sleeve if not skiing)
hiking and maybe plein air painting if weather cooperates...would love to hear your recommendation Nigel.
I like the Hotel Eden in Seefeld in Tirol. Easy free parking (individual garages available too, for a cost, if it is snowing), great breakfasts, excellent dinners (the only place I regularly go that I always go half pension), easy walk to the train, easy walk to meadows, small indoor/outdoor pool, good fun in the rain, pretty tasty cake in the afternoons, big rooms, balconies, usually decent price. Free apples too.
We stayed in "Seefeld in Tirol" at this place already several times:

(The link is merely for the description; we booked by calling the owners and writing e-mails.)
Seefeld offers 200+ hiking trails, by the way.
Late April is likely too early for hiking. Trails will be slushy and mucky.
You might also find a lot of hotels shut at the end of April. If you can delay till early May.
thanks all of you for your suggestions and advice!
