Albaussee, Austria, beer fest, has anyone attended

Planning a trip for 2022 to Austria and Germany. Starting in Budapest, ending in Munich. Our original plans for 2019 were to attend Oktoberfest in Munich but of course our plans were cancelled. Now were thinking that we'll skip Oktoberfest altogether and find a smaller version of Oktoberfest. I've been reading about the Altaussen Kiritog Bierzelt which is the first weekend in Sept. although I can't find the specific dates for 2022. It looks like fun and something that might be perfect for us. We were thinking of coming down to Altaussen from Salzburg for the weekend to attend. I would love to hear from others who have been to the festival, I heard it described as what Oktoberfest was like 30 or more years ago. Where did you stay, how many days did you attend the festival and so on. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

I did check that website but I was unable to find the dates for 2022. I would venture to guess that they are the first weekend in Sept. just hoping to verify. I have a lot of time to plan, have you attended this beer fest?

Sue, I haven’t been, nor to the Munich extravaganza, either, but thank you for at least discovering this smaller version! This could be on our future plans, too, whenever they can be realized. I hope you can include this on your future trip.

I wonder, 30 years from now, what will THIS one be like, and what will Munich’s festival have become?🤠🍻🇦🇹

The dates for 2022 are not yet set, but it will be most likely on the weekend of Sept. 3rd.

This is the official website (in German only): https://www.bierzelt-altaussee.at/
You will find the dates for 2022 in about one year from now.

Definitely interested, was planning 2022 Munich Oktoberfest but the large crowds (and my total inability to speak any German) is a major deterrent. The trip I was thinking of would have flown in and out of Munich, then "chasing Mozart" through Austria to Vienna, and then back to Munich by train and then home. My 2021 travel is already booked, so starting to think about 2022.

Keep 2 tickets out for me.

Steve, you are better removing your email from your post. There are quite a few spammers who haunt the Forums (usually unseen) and you are offering to get an inbox full of junque. You'll see that nobody else has theirs on their posts....
