I just booked an Airbnb for a two night stay in July. The host is termed a "superhost" on the Airbnb website. The reviews were very, very good for the rental.
The host send an email message stating that they are a small family business. I believe they rent 4 apartments within one building. He let me know times a person is at reception; if we need to arrive outside of those times, they can have someone waiting there for us. He also wrote the following:
'We require your arrival information, such as:
* Flight number & arrival time at the airport
* Arrival station & train number & arrival time at the station
With these details we can estimate your earliest arrival time at our place.'
He also asked that we open a link and complete a registration sheet. This sheet asks for our names, dates of birth, nationality, address; and Travel Document information (Document Type i.e. passport, identity card, drivers licence: number, issuing authority, date of issue)
My question: is it normal for an Airbnb to request this information? I think hotels take that information from customers when traveling overseas (I am not positive.)
Is it safe to provide this information to a rental host?
He did ask, he didn't state it is a requirement. He wrote that the information helps to speed up the check in process.
Any insight will be appreciated.
Thank You
