We will be traveling from Vienna to the Admont area to see the Admont Abbey in early December. A couple of questions please:
1) Any suggestions on where to stay in the Admont area? Looking for a small inn/lodge perhaps outside of the small town for a couple of days.
2) Any recommendations or considerations for winter driving from Vienna to Admont in December? Can we avoid mountain ranges when driving?

From the topographical maps it looks like Ad"mont" is in the Mountains. There is a Train and/or Bus from Linz Austria which takes 2 or more hours to Admont. The train/bus to Linz from Vienna takes just over an hour. If it is a light snow winter, you might be able to drive, if not be sure you have experience in Snow driving or take the train. I liked Gasthof Buchner in Admont. It's only a few steps from the abbey.
