Adding a week to our vacation--Austria

We are visiting Scotland and England September 1-15 and will end in London. We are planning to add an additional week because my husband has to be in France September 22 for a work trip. We are considering visiting Austria for the week ending with travelling to Paris at the end of the week. I will fly home from Paris and he will continue on to Val-de-Reuil for work..

One possibility I am looking at is to fly from London to Vienna and spend a day and a half there and then take the train to Salzburg and stay in Salzburg and do tours there for 2-3 days. We would finish by traveling to Paris (is flying the best way?) and spend a day or two in Paris before flying home.

Would appreciate any input on best methods of transportation to use for all travel. I wanted to go to Normandy, France, but I don't know if that is even feasible with the limited time. Any thoughts on what things to see or do would be appreciated. I do love The Sound of Music, so that tour will be one my to-do tours.

Thanks for your input.

Adding Austria (Vienna and Salzburg) to France (Normandy and Paris) in one week makes little sense. Just go to France from London, spend a leisurely 3 or 4 nights in Normandy, end up in Paris.

If the SOM is what you want then skip Vienna and go straight to the tour. Maybe flying to Munich makes more sense? Vienna is a 3 to 6 day visit.

But nothing is wrong with 1 day in Vienna if it's the trip that brings you pleasure.

Agree with the above from Mr. E. I think you should fly from London to Salzburg (or Munich) and really enjoy the Salzburg area and then get back to France.
