Suggestions for possible add on after the Best of Scotland to see Norway possibly doing the Norway in a nutshell tour to Bergen. Has anyone done this and how feasible is it.
Why is this in the "Austria" section?
Aberdeen Airport has flights on SAS to Stavanger and on Wideroe to Bergen and Stavanger.
From Edinburgh Loganair has flights to Bergen, and Norwegian Air Shuttle to Oslo (also seasonally to Bergen).
Personally, if I had the choice and the timings worked, I would go to Aberdeen for the Wideroe flight simply because I have always wanted to fly Wideroe because of the company history- and until very recently they have only flown prop aircraft- not jets. But that is just me.
Would you please tell us when you are going.
Also let us know where you will be going after Norway. (Don't just say home. Say I'm flying to xxx via xxx. Assuming you already have your tickets.)
Since your tour ends in Edinburgh, the easiest way is to fly to either Bergen or Oslo from Edinburgh as you mentioned you wanted to do the Norway in a Nutshell tour. You can start the tour on either end.
To get to Aberdeen Airport would take about 3.5 hours and include a combination of train to Aberdeen and bus to Aberdeen airport. You could probably get a bus to Aberdeen cheaper but it will take hours longer.
Sorry I accidentally put this in the Austrian forum . Not sure how to move it to the Scotland forum?

The bus actually takes between 30 and 60 minutes longer than the train, and there are at least 3 an hour (4 every other hour), as opposed to the hourly train.
