Accommodations in Vienna

We will be in Vienna in August, 2023 and looking for suggestions for accommodations. Arriving on the train from Linz and departing on a cruise (2 nights in Vienna). Thinking along the lines of 3 stars--nothing fancy but generally clean and comfortable--would probably pay a little more for location as we will be walking all over Old Town. Thanks for any help!

On booking.com, I plugged in your dates and can recommend the following:

Hollmann Beletage - 360 Euro for two nights in the heart of the first district, beautiful hotel

Motel One Wien - Staatsoper - 285 Euro for two nights in a terrific location near the Opera House

Funny about the bottled water as Vienna tap water is better than the bottled stuff ;)

I had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Josefshof am Rathaus, which is in an excellent location next to the ringstrasse.

A little further out is a funky boutique hotel that often has good prices: Pentahotel Vienna. It is well connected by transit.

I second the Motel One Staatsoper. The location was excellent - steps from the Opera House. Short walk from the Naschmarkt. I visited for a week as a solo traveller last spring. The hotel was great - clean, quiet and delicious continental breakfast.

K&T Boardinghouse is across the street from the Neubaugasse underground station. That's 2 stops (5 minutes) outside of the Ring.

We started staying there 24 years ago. It was good enough for Rick Steves back then too. Their new facility has huge rooms that are impeccably clean and they're something like 85 Euros a night. Move quick as they seem to have been very busy for 2023.

The street scene outside Neubaugasse is very busy with retail shops and restaurants. No need to go outside the neighborhood for much of anything.

KTBoardinghouse.AT You can book direct, and they can be reached on Booking.com (I believe.)
