A traditional coffeehouse recommendation - Cafe Tirolerhof

Want an authentic coffeehouse experience without the Tik Tok and lines?

Nestled between the Albertina and the Opera, Cafe Tirolerhof founded in 1918 is everything you want in a Viennese coffeehouse - Thonet style chairs, upholstered banquets, cake cases, racked newspapers and crystal chandeliers. Iโ€™m sitting here now in between appointments looking right at the Opera through a bubbly piece of glass with an Oriental shaped frame. The eggs, croissant and tea were just what I needed. Service was prompt and no fuss - no waiting for a table either.

In these times of long lines and inauthentic coffeehouse experiences (yes, Iโ€™m talking about you Demel, Sacher and Central), find something authentic.

Thanks Emily! I've been bookmarking all your great threads, as I arrive Aug 30 for a week. We've bought tickets for the few touristy things we wanted to do, now to follow your food tour and coffeehouse recommendations for some relief.

Thanks Emily, wonโ€™t be back to Vienna until October โ€˜27 but will definitely go. Going to the Albertina is a must for me.

Always stop here on my way to the Albertina. Looking forward to a visit in December.
