A month vacation in austria and switzerland

I am planning time for a nice trip to both countries. Never been . is spending 4 to 5 weeks here too long. Should we add another area. Our last trip was 4 weeks. Paris bayeux Normandy pierrfonds bath and London. Nice mix of fast and slow is up our alley. Not into packed days. Sitting in the luxumburg garden for a couple hours was very enjoyable

I very lovely place in Tirol / Austria would be Ehenbichl. Since there is the possibility to visit the Castle Ehrenberg and the longest suspension bridge in Europe. Another fortune would be, that you´re nearly on the border between Austria an Switzerland.
As accommodation I would suggest www.burgchalet.com

There is a lot to do in these countries to fill your month. It is no problem to spend a week in Vienna with all the things worth visiting in the city itself and around, like the famous monastery in Melk or the Esterhazy palace in Eisenstadt. Most people are happy to stay some days in Salzburg. And if you're in for walking, there are endless opportunities. Once, some thirty-odd years ago, I spent a week in a village somewhere in Tyrol with everyday a good walk. The public transport in this part of the world is well-organised, so you can have a stroll to a nearby village or town, and take a bus back to your Gasthof.

We frequently spend one or two months in a single area and love it! You can move at a not-rushed pace, enjoy trying different restaurants, take walks, see less "popular" attractions, find out about and attend local events, and just get to know a place well. It's lovely! We spent an entire month in one region of Switzerland and enjoyed ourselves tremendously - do it! You'll like it.

One week Vienna; one week Seefeld (with a rental car); one week Wolfgangsee; one week Ljubljana. Plenty to keep you busy in these areas for a week.

If you're in the vicinity, check out St. Anton am Arlberg in Austria, Arosa in Switzerland. I loved both.

As to Switzerland, we spent 11 nights between Zermatt and Lauterbrunnen last fall and loved every minute exploring the areas. An apartment in Lauterbrunnen allowed us to travel easily all over the Berner-Oberland on a B-O pass. Be sure you take advantage of Swiss Passes, which can be complicated and require one to do a little planning and math.
