We will have a 5 hour layover in Vienna and will have luggage and will be going through customs on our way to Zurich, do we have time to take the train and go into the city or is it best to stay at the airport? It will be on a Saturday around noon. Thank you!

Where are you arriving from and is your travel on one ticket or did you purchase your ticket to Switzerland as a separate booking?

Coming from Los Angeles, one ticket with final destination to Zurich.

Your luggage should be checked through to Zurich, so you need not to bother about in Vienna.

It will take you 1 hour to deplane and get through immigration. Another 20-30 minutes in a taxi. So estimate that you’ll be in the center between 1-1:30. You’ll want to be back at the airport around 3:30, so you’ll need to leave the city around 3:00. Up to you if 1.5-2.0 hours is worth the hassle, especially with mega jet lag.

Thank you for the experienced comments. I think we will just stay at the airport and not stress about trying to get to the city. :)
