4 days in Vienna & 3 days in Salzburg

I am planning a tour from Mumbai to Munich to Salzburg to Prague to Vienna.

I intend to spend 3 days in Salzburg & 4 days in Vienna.

First question - the number of days adequate or too much or too less ?

Help in planning the places to see.

Me & my wife are in our late 40s & we are interested in exploring these cities, experience the daily life, local markets, historical places, nature & shopping.

Pls. advise

Thanks in advance

How many total days are you traveling? You mention Munich and Prague but give no length of visit.

You can see Vienna in 4 days. 3 days is plenty to tour Salzburg. You may consider 5 days in Vienna and 2 in Salzburg (by 2 days I mean 2 overnights.) Vienna is a quite large metropolis with many cafes, a great Naschmarkt (outdoor market) and many cultural attractions. There are too many art museums to choose from and lots of music/opera. You can fill four days just visiting the many cafes (you may not sleep after all the caffeine!). Salzburg has an excellent fortress (ride the funicular up to it) and an easily walkable city that is fun to explore. You may wish to see Mozart's apartment or birth house, but these aren't absolutely necessary.

I spent four nights in Vienna and three in Salzburg last summer and thought it was just right; however, one of my Salzburg days was actually spent in the Salzkammergut region gawking at the gorgeous lakes.

I just spent two nights in Salzburg last week and feel that it was an ideal amount of time, including a concert at the Mirabell Palace, to explore the smaller old town area.
