3 days in Vienna, 3 days in Budapest, and 3 days in ...?

Hi All- My husband and I will be traveling to Vienna and Budapest this December and we have 3 extra days that aren't accounted for. We are looking for a smaller town, but there are so many and it's so hard to choose! So, I'm curious: where would you spend the extra 3 days?

Please note we won't have a car. Traveling by train mostly.

Hi,

I would spend those 3 extra days in Moravia starting with Brno and towns around there, easily accessible by train. I took one this June from Brno...nice and interesting.

Days are always a bit confusing to plan around. Nights are easier. But, I would do no less than

Day one - arrive Vienna
Day two - Vienna
Day three - Vienna
Day four - Vienna with a day trip to Melk
Day five - morning Vienna to Gyor / Pannonhalma Archabbey
Day six - morning Gyor to Budapest
Day seven - Budapest
Day eight - Budapest
Day nine - head home
