24 hours in Salzburg

Hello,

We just finished our Berchtesgaden trip and now head to Salzburg.

We will have just 24 hours to sample the city before we head to garmish.

Looking for suggestions for the must do things with the following parameters:

We are not into museums, palaces, history, art etc.

We love nature and beautiful scenery.

We are on a limited budget and will be staying close to the train station and will prefer sights that require limited time and money to cover.

With these constraints does the Salzburg card make sense for us? We are a group of 3 adults.

Thanks and regards

Charles

Are you headed there right now? Then, yes, what else are you going to do with those 24 hours? I would suggest a visit to the fortress, a ride on the bus down to Hellbrunn Gardens for the trick fountains (the park is beautiful) and a dinner at the Augustiner Braeu. Salzburg is about history, so not really sure why you chose to go there in the first place.

Maybe rent bikes and ride along the river, and hike up to the fortress for great views.

I would recommend going up to the fortress to see the expansive views of both the city as well as the mountains surrounding it. Mirabell Gardens is also a must - we did it first thing in the morning and got beautiful photos of the gardens. We had the place to ourselves!

I also suggest biking. We loved our Sound of Music bike tour, but if you aren't into the SOM, riding out into the countryside on your own would still be nice. Seemed to be a well organized trail system. Also liked the walk to and around Augustiner Beer Hall. If the weather is nice, it would be so fun outside in the garden!
