Hi, I will be visiting Hallstatt for a day in October, and am planning on going to the 5 fingers lookout.
I was wondering if there is any free parking in the area?
Also, is it worth a visit to the city afterwards? if so, should i get there by car or leave my car at a parking spot and take a bus?

There is free parking at the base of the Lift to Five Fingers,also worth visiting The Ice Caves at the first stop on the Tram.Hallstatt is well worth the the visit,in October you should be able to park in town,there is the Salt Mine Tour in Hallstatt which we enjoyed, better check to see if these attractions are open in October.

My wife and I have been to Hallstatt but no one ever mentioned the 5 fingers lookout. We were on tour and did not look forward to the Salt Mines but were absolutely blown away by that experience....we still have a candle holder on the coffee table that we bought there...we live in Florida and the humidity is eroding it day by day! However, we visit Austria/Germany every couple of years. Could someone tell me how to get to the 5 fingers lookout from Salzburg city center? We use the wonderful city of Salzburg (Hotel Hohenstauffen) as our base. We are in the process of planning our next trip. Thanks for your information. Kelly
