I am trying to book a train from Vienna to Krakow -- flights are way too expensive. Are there overnight trains without stops? I only see one option and it stops around 3AM. Also, is there a good website to buy tickets? The cheapest overnight I see is at 280euros --not sure if this is good or not. I am traveling in August not sure if I missed good deals already. Thanks in advance for any insights.
I believe the night train schedule is actually better than it looks online and you may not need to make the 4:00 connection. You can see price info from Euraide (not from this year) but then book with them by email ([email protected]) so they can confirm with European sources whether or not the night train is still direct.
Thanks! I just emailed them.
The correct reliable resource for train info and tickets for journeys originating in Austria is the Austrian National Rail Service, OeBB. Visit their website at www.oebb.at.
Others websites and services will sell you tickets, but at a highly inflated price.

Fares should be under 100 Euro.
I took this trip in June,2005 and it was great. There were 4 of us "girls" and we had 2-bed couchetts with a sink in the room, a bottle of water, real sheets and breakfast included. When we boarded in Vienna we did not see hardly any other people boarding and no one else got off in the morning either. Kinda weird but there was one taxi which took us to our hotel at 7:00 a.m. There were no train changes. Can't remember the price.
