We are planning a trip in early October, ending up in Athens to catch a cruise. Is it feasible to take a ferry from Venice to Athens? Looks like the train situation is not something we can depend on, and would prefer not to fly but that may be our best option if the ferry doesn't work out. Any thoughts?

Try Minoan Lines, they go from Trieste or Ravenna to Patras. From Patras you catch a bus or train into Athens.

Do you mean Vienna or Venice? If you meant Venice, you should probably post this in the Italy forum.
