1 Day in Vienna

I know this is probably an impossible question for such a beautiful city with lots of history.
But….
We have one full day to see the sites during a visit with friends between staying in Salzburg and Wengen.
We would love to see a little architecture, have some good local food and enjoy the vibe.

Here are some potential considerations….anything you would strike from the list or add that I missed?
Town center, cafe central, 1st Stephen’s cathedral, Kunst Haus Vien, Schonbrunn palace, Mozart apt? National library? Imperial crypt or Cemetery (my wife loves cemeteries) St Peter’s, A place for rooftop views? Weiner Grover Saal.

Is anything too far off the path or underwhelming?

They have a car but we can use public transport too.

Thanks in advance,

A highlight for us was seeing the Schonbrunn Palace and gardens. You would need a timed reservation. The Gloriette and the gardens are beautiful. Also walking along the pedestrian streets near St Stephen's cathedral and stopping at a cafe would be nice.

Forget the car, use public transport. Unless it is on a weekend, parking in Vienna is not only limited to 2 hours, but also you must pay for it using tickets to be bought in advance in tobacco shops.

Here is a little folder, targeted at short-time visitors; it gives you a good overview of the main sights in Vienna. (Ignore the last page which is not up to date, as this folder has not be renewed since 2020 due to Corona times without tourists in Vienna.)

There are two city walks laid out in this folder, just pick the sights you are most interested in. I doubt that you can do more than 5 items out of your list in one day. Just having good food and feeling the vibe normally will cost you half a day.
