If you are looking for a place to stay near Fussen, Germany, Gutshof sum Schluxen in Pinswang, Austria https://www.schluxen.at is a fun option. We stayed here twenty years ago and just made a return trip a few weeks ago. It's a large guesthouse in a beautiful country location with about 20 rooms, all with kitchenettes. You can take a beautiful hike or bike ride over the hill to Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castles and into Fussen. They have free bikes and even some ebikes that they will loan you. Everything is self-serve on the honor system, including: many types of drinks, pizza and use pizza ovens, a bonfire area, lounge chairs with a beautiful view, a spa room with a sauna, jacuzzi tubs, and massage chairs, another room with warm water or hay beds, a washer and dryer, a game room with a ping pong table and other games, etc. Horse-back riding lessons are also available for a fee. You can order a breakfast bag, including some fresh rolls and a few other things. We bought some fresh eggs and milk from a farmer down the road to go with our rolls. We stayed two nights and wished we had booked another. It was such a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. Best with a car.
