Vienna Days Package at Hotel am Stephansplatz - Worth Extra Cost?

Hello fellow Rick Steves travelers (first time posting on the forum).

I am planning on taking a trip to Vienna and Salzburg in late November, and I have identified the hotel I would like to stay at while in Vienna for 2 or 3 nights: the Hotel am Stephansplatz. It was recommended by the guidebook and I am pleased with its very central location. Currently, the hotel offers a package called "Vienna Days." It includes many things but most importantly nd a Vienna sightseeing pass (here's a link to the program for you to view on your own: https://www.hotelamstephansplatz.at/en/packages/detail/3/vienna-days.html). While I do not care so much about the room view (I don't plan to be in the room for long), I need help deciding if the package is worth the extra money to receive the benefit of the sightseeing pass. It is an extra $300 for the included extras versus booking a single room without the package or the view. I plan to complete the Rick Steves Vienna walking tour, and I'd like to enter as many museums on the tour as possible. I would also like to visit the Sigmund Freud museum. My question is: If you were traveling to Vienna, would you think the extra benefits are worth the money for a 2 night stay? Thank you very much for any advice you can provide!

We stayed in that hotel several years ago, and we loved the hotel, breakfast & especially the location!

We were there several days and didn’t spend that much on activities for our whole time. I would skip the extra package deal.

We really were glad that we visited the Sigmund Freud Museum. It is in the university area.

Vienna has a lot of museums, some of which are quite large and can be time-consuming. I wouldn't necessarily expect to go to a large number of them with just a 2-night or 3-night stay.

I would suggest that you add up the ticket prices for the museums that you would like to visit, to see if they total $300. I only see the Albertina (I assume the original, and not the Albertina Modern) on the Rick Steves walking tour, but I'm going to Vienna shortly, and have the Kuntshistorisches Museum, Leopold Museum, and Belvedere Museum Wien on my list as well. And thanks for mentioning the Rick Steves walking tours - I now have the app downloaded!

I agree - I would skip the extra package. I just don't think for a 2-night stay you'd get your money's worth. We were just in Vienna last month and it is gorgeous! Make sure to save some time just to wander around and take in all of the beautiful architecture. Have a fantastic trip!
