We're truing to decide the the best location and village to stay in on our exploration of the Wachau Valley this coming Sept. We pick up our car in Vienna in the am, drive to Krems, see the town, visit some wineries, next stop Durnstein. I have a couple of locations that I'm thinking of. A nice little B&B located in a vineyard outside of Durnstein, they will provide us a "free" bottle of their wine, or a small hotel in Spitz in a vineyard (cheapest of all) or a small hotel in Weissenkirchen. They all look nice and are close in price.
The second day we'll go to Melk, see the abby, and maybe take a bike ride along the Danube returning to the hotel that night. I'd love you're thought and input.
Thank you,
Sue
Sue - This hotel in Krems, Hotel Unter den Linden, is worth a look at before you make your final decision. It's close to many attractions and transportation. The rooms are very spacious and the breakfast is delicious. Furthermore, there are many restaurants in the area.
And Sue don't forget to put Grafnegg Castle on your list touring of the Wachau.
