Marvelous Bed and Breakfast in Mittersill, Austria --- Alphotel Kuhstadl

My husband and I spent a couple of days here in Mid-May 2019. Our room was very spacious, extremely clean, and had very soft and comfy beds. Our bathroom was also roomy and very well stocked. When we stepped onto our balcony, we could hardly believe the INCREDIBLE view of the Alps!! Absolutely spectacular!! There are some common rooms that are very homey, and are well stocked with books and all sorts of games for guests to play.

But the best part about this place is the delightful owners, Rene and Thea. They instantly make you feel welcome and very much at home. They are generous, helpful, and very friendly.

This is very convenient to downtown Mittersill, a quaint and lovely little town. It is an easy 15 minute stroll to the train station.

One of the nicest features is that they gave each of us a 'National Park SummerCard Mobile'. They mentioned that it might give us some type of discount to some things we might like to do. (Our cynical American minds thought "Sure, it will give us a discount.)

Did it ever give us discounts! It actually gave us free admission to:
1. National Park Visitor center -- a 5 minute walk
2. Train to Krimml (You can also take it to Zell Am See)
3. Bus to the trailhead of Krimml Falls in the town of Krimml
4. Driving on the amazing Grossglockner High Alpine Road

The cards really reduced the effective price of this Bed and Breakfast.

Rene and Thea are hikers and outdoors-type people, and if you need advice on any type of outdoor activity, they are more than happy to help.

Our only regret about this place is that we did not stay longer.

When we next return to this part of Austria, we will definitely stay here again.

We stayed in Neukirchen am Großvenediger, not far from where you stayed (Haus Kendelbacher, a not fancy but very homey B&B with lovely hosts as well). We also are HUGE fans of the National Park Sommercard. We were there for 3 nights, and almost made back our B&B costs by using the card. For others going to this area, I recommend you look for a place that gives you this card as part of your stay. You can find more information about what is available with the card here:

https://www.nationalpark-sommercard.at/en/

In addition to some of what you did, we also rode the lift up to Glacier World (an amazing place), rented e-bikes for $10 for a day and biked to Krimml falls, and visited a zoo with many native wild animals. The HoHe Tauern National Park is absolutely beautiful and we were so glad we visited. We will return.

Thank you for the review! The place sounds wonderful.

and thanks for the memories ... we spent Christmas one year at Schloß Mittersill when it was a conference center. Apparently now it is a hotel (?). I loved strolling through the town. I bought some Räuchermännchen that we still have.

Thank you for posting this accommodation. I was looking for something along the Grossglockner Scenic Byway and this seems perfect. I have already contacted them and am booking a room for next summer.
