Innsbruck and Salzburg Dining

Grateful, fellow travelers, should you recommend restaurants in Innsbruck and Salzburg for dinner. Also, please advise whether advance reservations are recommended. Do you contact the restaurant online to make your reservation? If you use a phone app, like Open Table, which app do you use?

I can only answer to Salzburg and the fact that I think it's always helpful to have the reservations, being sure to cancel ahead of time if you know you won't be able to make it - as a courtesy to the restaurant :)

Hands down favorite Salzburg restaurant is Die Weisse. Authentic, delicious, friendly, local hangout
Also really like Pasta e Vino. Smaller than Die Weisse, has what the name says: Pasta and Wine. Yes, other options but, IMO, you don't order the hamburger at a pancake house... hehe
Most incredibly YUMMY sandwich ever was from a little 'hole in the wall' (literally) called Balkan Grill-Walter - easily missed as it's tucked away on a tiny side street. Worth looking for.
Fun, loud and a favorite for tourists and locals is Augustiner Biergarten. Eaten here a couple of times. Watch the RS tv segment on how to order your beer and pick out your food from the various little stalls. Word of warning: stay with the crowds and don't go off by yourself. 1st visit it was raining so we sat inside the very loud hall with everyone else, sharing a table with strangers and loved it. Second time, it was sunny and bright - everyone was sitting outside but we thought we'd have the place to ourselves on the inside, closer to the beer and food stalls, etc. It was open so why not. Because - it put a target on our backs. Approached by a surly man, and without going into details, it ruined our evening and we left before we finished our dinner. Lesson learned. It most-likely wouldn't have happened if we were with the crowd. Won't stop us from returning someday!
Prost!
