I stayed at the Hotel Beethoven for the first 3 days of my 19 day solo trip. It's a stone's throw to the Naschmarkt, and a few steps away (5 minutes) to Cafe Sperl. I'm an older female traveler, and wanted creature comforts - so my choice was perfect. The whole hotel has been renovated, each of the 5 floors has a theme, and each room is decorated differently with the name of the Person that room represents. I had Sigmund Freud on the 5th floor, very comfortable bed, spacious, heated wood floors, bathrobe, large bathroom with wonderful unique rainshower, in-room coffee press, etc, and a lot of other comfort amenities. I reserved directly with the hotel and chose a room with breakfast.
Breakfast was another issue: anything you can think of and then some. It's buffet style, except for your coffee drinks which are made to order and served at table. Every component of the breakfast was fresh and delicious - and the staff were kind and helpful.
Check out their beautiful website, I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. My room was a double (with king bed) for single use, but you can get smaller more economical rooms with full beds for solo travel, too. Highly recommend.
