Will be in Saltzburg next June 2015. 3 couples looking for good value hotel in downtown area. Everyone is over 60 and low floor or elevator is a must. Staying 3 nights. Normally we have been staying in apartments in the older downtown areas but have not found any in Salzburg or Munich.

It may be more helpful if you post on the "Destination Q & A" board and post under Austria. This is actually a place for Reviews of places you have stayed.

I agree with Dean. You may get more responses posting to the Q & A board. With that said, you could use the Hotel review board for Austria to see where others have stayed and what other liked. Also, if you don't have one already, take a look at Rick's Vienna guidebook as it will have lots of recommendations for hotels covering a wide price range.
