Best Airline from USA to Istanbul

Hello.

I am considering a 2-week trip to Istanbul within the next month, and am wondering which airline would be most bang for the buck. I live in Portland, Oregon, USA.

Thanks in advance.

Easy. Turkish Airlines wins, hands down. It's a no-brainer.

It's a shame they don't fly to PDX (at least not yet...they fly to more destinations worldwide than any other airline, and are expanding rapidly...in fact, just last week they announced new service from Denver nonstop to IST).

Turkish Airlines has 1-2 daily nonstops from SEA to IST (some days two flights, some days one...depends on the season and day of the week, but they are now expanding their Seattle service). So do the short hop from PDX to SEA, then the somewhat longer hop to Istanbul.

I'd also recommend Turkish Airlines. We were in economy but it was a pleasant flight with essential bags with slippers and tasty meals and snacks.

I investigated both the Turkish Air flights from Istanbul from PDX via both San Francisco and Seattle. At the time, prices were significantly higher than other options. I ended up flying Delta from PDX to Amsterdam and onward to Istanbul (ended up being shorter flight time all around). My return was via Amsterdam as well but I didn't fly home from Istanbul so that won't help much.
