World Orienteering Championships, 12-16 July in Edinburgh

I don't know if there are any more orienteering fans here (probably not), but for anyone planning a trip to Scotland this summer it might be helpful to know that the World championships are held in Edinburgh this summer. It might increase demand for hotel rooms. And since 2024 is an even year it means a sprint championship, i.e. the competitions are held in urban areas, partly in central Edinburgh (Old Town).

Basic schedule:

Friday 12th, sprint

9:00-11:00, Qualification (Leith)
15:00-18:00, Finals (Central Edinburgh)

Sunday 14th, relay

12:45, Sprint relay (Riccarton)

Tuesday 16th, Knock-out sprint

9:00-11:00, Qualification (Wester Hailes)
15:24-19:00, Finals (Central Edinburgh)

(And if anyone is wondering what it looks like to have a sport event in the middle of a city, here you can watch the sprint from the European championships in Verona last year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYj4H_OswVg )
