B & B help for Edinburgh near train station, Old Town & transportation to airport?

Hi, We will be arriving from London by train and looking for a B and B near the train station and Old Town Edinburgh. A couple days later we will be renting a car at the airport for more traveling and would need easy transport from the B and B to the airport car rental area upon leaving Edinburgh. Would welcome any advice and suggestions! Thank you.

The tram works and a taxi from by Waverley train station to the airport was 27£ or so when we took one in 2022.

Depends on the location of you B and B. If it is withiin walking distance (with luggage) of the tram line, that would be what I'd do. If you are staying in a place not within walking distance, then just take a taxi.

We stayed in the Old Town last summer. On a repeat trip I'd stay in the New Town as I did a year earlier. It's much easier to get to the topographically much higher Old Town without luggage. Alternatively you can take a taxi. Trying to schlep even well-stuffed rollaboards from Waverley Station into the (on the map) very close Old Town is not fun.

For what it’s worth, a year ago we stayed in Old Town in a small AirBnB called The Castle Snug (not sure if you’re including AirBnB in your question; I know there are pros and cons vs a traditional bed and breakfast). Within Old Town, the location and ambiance can’t be beat.
After checking out, we walked down the hill with our luggage to New Town to catch a bus to the airport to get our rental car. I think the bus was Airlink; we learned about it from the airport website. The walk from Old Town to the bus stop took about 15 minutes. The bus/tram stop was at St Andrew Square and was easy to find with a little research ahead of time. Buses ran frequently.
Yes, it’s a hike up the hill from Waverley Station to Old Town. The sidewalks were good.
For us it was all worth it, but anyone with mobility issues definitely will want to consider another option besides walking to and from Old Town.

We recently stayed at BrewDog DogHouse, which is a small hotel that included breakfast in our booking. It's steps away from the Royal Mile and a short walk to Waverley Train Station. Our loft-style room was spacious and included a fully-equipped kitchen, multiple mini-fridges stocked with beer and beverages. Guests also have access to a private lounge that includes games, coffee and candy stations. The staff was super helpful and friendly.
