Wine tasting at Vinessa vineyard on Mazzorbo Island?

Has anyone done a wine tasting at the Vinessa vineyard on Mazzorbo Island in the Venice lagoon? They grow the Dorona grape, which was thought to be extinct. Any thoughts/tips? I am thinking of this as a gift for my husband. Thanks!

Hello JBC, I've walked through the vineyard and facilities look very nice and upscale but that's about all I have to add.

They seem to have a bar, restaurant, osteria and offer actual stays there but I didn't see anything specifically about a wine tasting. The bar offers glasses of the Dorona wine from different years for 10-35e.

You can get there by taking the Burano vaporetto and just getting off one stop early at Mazzorbo. The first doorway in the wall is the vineyard.

Hope it works out for you,

If you look at their website, and click "Wine Experiences", wine tastings are there. It takes a little navigation.
I'm just wondering if it's worth it. We enjoy wines, but aren't super knowledgeable. The history of the Dorona grape is fascinating!

I see that now. The vineyard is lovely - although a little bare when I saw it in October but that's to be expected. Sorry, I can't offer any direct advice on the tastings themselves, but it does look like they offer a range of times and price options.
I guess I would look for the price you're comfortable with unless you can get some direct information on it and go with that.

Have great trip,

Thank you for your input.
I think we will go for one of the tastings--not sure which one!

I know everyone's budget and tolerance for spending is different but if you resonate with the story of a place, event or a thing and you have a chance to have an experience then I would always vote for taking. This is the only place in world you can have this experience and you are going to be there while it's available.

My wife passed on going up in the leaning tower of Pisa before it was closed for decades and we finally got the chance again. When I was in Paris we they closed the entrance to climb the roof in Notre Dame. When we passed through Paris to fly out we rushed over there and just made the cut off to climb to the top. Since then Notre Dame has burned down.

I think it's the unique experiences from travel that stick with us the longest and are the most special.

Have an amazing trip,

Thank you, Tod. You are so right.
I've decided to book the wine tasting. We will be in Venice almost 2 weeks total (with a few side trips). It's for our 40th anniversary! I will let everyone know how it is.
