Best way to get from Florence train station to Uffizi?

We are staying near Ponte Vecchio on Uffizi side and looking to go from the train station to our Airbnb. Best route?!? Bus or taxi??

Thanks!!

If you are able bodied and don't have a ton of luggage, walk. We walked all over Florence. There are fantastic museums in Florence, but, the whole city itself is a beautiful museum.

With luggage a taxi. Without luggage it is a nice walk. We have walked all over Florence without luggage. It is difficult and not very enjoyable with luggage. Write the address down show it to the taxi driver and he will take you right to your apartment.

We stayed near the uffizi. Just walked there. Walking with luggage is easy with the proper luggage.

I’d take a taxi if with luggage
Won’t be much more than 10 euros

It is walkable but with luggage can be a bit much that far oncobblestones -noisy too!

Give the driver the address and he will get you as close to the address as possible as the streets in that area are pedestrianized

Without luggage—walk
Florence is walkable and very compact

But it can also be difficult to locate your address so first time locating apartment might be easier to take a taxi

Have you taken a look at Google maps? Put in the address and choose the car option and see how close you can get to your apartment and how far you'd have to walk anyway. With a wheeled carryon or slightly larger suitcase, we just prefer to walk from train stations, within reason. Its a good orientation to a city, and we are walkers anyway.

If you use Google Maps and choose the car option the result will not be the route the taxi will actually take. Taxicabs can drive on bus lanes and inside ZTL, so the route will not be dissimilar to the route on foot. The taxi will likely go to Piazza Santa Maria Novella, then Via de Fossi, and then Lungarno Corsini. They could also make it to via Tornabuoni then L.no Acciaiuoli. Google Maps generally excludes ZTL routes and bus lanes.

It’s a 20 min walk, if you can handle it with luggage.

I use Google maps a lot, Roberto, and appreciate the clarification and info.

I think the answer to your question depends on how much luggage you’ve got, how big your travel party is, what your tolerance for walking is (it’s not far if you are in decent physical condition and haven’t packed too much), and how far into your vacay you are (if it’s early on, you may have more energy than if you’re towards the end).

For what it’s worth, I’m in good shape, enjoy walking, pack light and I would take a taxi if this was my first time to Florence. It’s not just the walk but it’s also trying to navigate a new place with some luggage. Save the exploring for after you drop off the luggage. I am also usually traveling with 4 kids in tow, though.

Enjoy the wonders of Florence!

We are healthy and active and we will grab a taxi! Because hauling luggage on cobblestone is not only annoyingly loud for everyone but losing a wheel the first week in is not worth the hassle.
Thank you!!!!
