Travel health insurance while in Europe

Hi

I’ve never bought health insurance while I travel but this time I’m taking my 83 year old mother to Italy, France and the UK. What company do you all suggest we get our travel insurance from. We are US citizens.
Thanks so much

Individual needs vary greatly and it is hard to pin down policies one at a time. I started with https://www.squaremouth.com/ many years ago insuring one trip at a time, which is probably what you want to do. You enter your parameters and preferences and they offer up the best matches. You will, of course, have to read the coverage documentation carefully and perhaps look at some online reviews.

This is also a decent overall article on travel insurance https://www.elliott.org/ultimate-consumer-guides-smart-travelers/will-you-need-travel-insurance-after-pandemic-guide/.

First of all, what does she have now? I am guessing Medicare, but the real question is does she have any supplemental coverage that would cover her for urgent or emergency care overseas. Many Medicare Advantage plans do this. Others have plan G coverage which also covers.

Once you find out what coverage she currently has, then you can compare the cost of travel insurance to the cost of adding to her current Medicare coverage and see which would be the best option for her.

And think thru whether or not you want evacuation insurance, which is probably a costly option
