Hôtel Paris Marais Caron de Beaumarchais - Rear Room

Has anyone stayed in a rear room at the Hôtel Paris Marais Caron de Beaumarchais? The location is right where we want to me and it's the kind of hotel we love - small, kind of quirky. They're down to one room available and it's a rear room. We don't mind a small room and don't need a view, but I'm worried about it will be dark - waking up in a cave isn't fun. Wondering if we request a room on an upper floor if it would be okay...

I see that you still have no replies from anyone who has stayed in a rear room. I have not, however, when I went to their website, it appears that they have facade rooms (in the front on the street) and interior courtyard rooms which I am assuming are rear rooms. They state that the courtyard rooms have no view. They all appear to have windows.
Why don't you email them for their answer especially if only one room is left?
I agree the hotel looks very sweet. I've added it to my list of "next time in Paris".

Out of curiosity, I read reviews on TA that mentioned rear or courtyard. Many people liked the rooms but they were frequently described as dark. The plus side of that is that you’ll get little if any street noise. I would try for an upper floor.

We stayed there about a decade ago. Tight rooms! Ones on street can tend to be noisy with garbage pickup in morning. Otherwise a sweet place. Petit Dejeuner was wonderful on balcony. “Back rooms” on courtyard will be much quieter.
Location cannot be beat for the 3rd/4th!

Thanks so much, all! I really like the look of the hotel and I hadn't thought about the fact that the courtyard will be quieter. And we've been in enough tight European rooms... we manage! I went ahead and booked the room and requested an upper floor. I'll report back in September!

It's a very charming hotel, and a great location. And indeed will be more peaceful on the courtyard side. Enjoy your trip !

Lovely hotel! We stayed in one of the front rooms a while back and enjoyed it very much. Very helpful staff and nice breakfast. As mentioned, rooms are tight and we did ask to move one of the extra chairs out of our room to make more space.
