We are contemplating staying at La Borde en Sologne Chateau. Anyone have an opinion of this hotel? The reasoning is that we think we'll get an authentic French countryside feel (we staid in Normandy countryside and loved it). It looks beautiful but we're concerned that it's too far from a town and we'll spend too much time searching for meals/food, etc. and too much time in the car. I realize most Rick Steves fans stay in Amboise. Our other option/choice is Chateau de Pray in Amboise, which looks great. We considered Fleur de Loire in Blois, as it looks like the Blois restaurants are terrific but the hotel seems very restrictive.
